The hoodie

The Comfort Colors 1467 is the hoodie for the eight months you are not in Antalya. It is a lightweight hooded sweatshirt, 6.4 oz of 100% ring-spun US cotton, garment-dyed after it is sewn so the color settles into the fiber and the cloth feels worn in on the first day. The hood is jersey-lined, with a natural flat drawcord (white on the White hoodie), the shoulders are rolled forward, the body is seamless, and the cuffs and waistband are 1×1 rib with a little spandex, so they stretch and come back. It is not the heavy sweatshirt: at 6.4 oz it sits closer to the tee than to the 9.5 oz crewneck, which is why it works from October to April and on a cool July evening by the harbor. The fit is relaxed. It is the layer you reach for when the weather is wrong.

Care and fade

Most 1467 colors are pigment-dyed, which is what gives them their depth and their slightly uneven, lived-in surface; a few, Black and White among them, use reactive dye instead. Pigment dye is meant to move: expect a little lightening over the first few washes, then a color that settles and stays. Wash cold, inside out, with like colors, and tumble dry low. No bleach, and no fabric softener — softener coats the cotton and dulls the hand. Shade variation from one garment to the next, and between the color on your screen and the one that arrives, is inherent to pigment dyeing.

Fit and sizing

The 1467 is cut relaxed and sits roomy through the body and shoulder, like the crewneck. Take your usual size for the fit it was designed for, or one size down if you prefer it closer. Garment dyeing means most of the shrinkage has already happened before it reaches you. The measurements below are the garment laid flat: body length from the high point of the shoulder, chest width one inch below the armhole — double it for the full circumference — and sleeve length from the center back of the neck to the cuff.
